Demand Media Cover Trump’s Self-Enrichment Honestly

Donald Trump has repeatedly used the presidency as a vehicle for personal profit—steering business to his properties, leveraging political power for private gain, and blurring the line between public office and personal enrichment. This is not normal politics or routine conflict-of-interest noise; it is a pattern of corruption that strikes at the core of democratic accountability.

Too often, corporate media treats Trump’s self-enrichment as a side story—buried in business sections, framed as ethics “controversies,” or overshadowed by daily political drama. When the press minimizes or compartmentalizes corruption, it deprives the public of a clear understanding of how power is being abused and who is benefiting from it.

We call on news organizations to cover Trump’s self-enrichment plainly and persistently—naming conflicts of interest, following the money, and refusing to normalize corruption as background politics. Democracy cannot function when the misuse of public office for private profit is obscured or excused. The public deserves journalism that tells the whole truth.
