Congress: Stop Trump’s DOJ Revenge Campaign

The Department of Justice exists to uphold the law — not to serve any president’s political vendettas. Yet we’re watching the DOJ being twisted into a weapon of revenge.

Just weeks after former FBI Director James Comey was indicted, the DOJ has now charged New York Attorney General Letitia James with fraud, barely days after Trump demanded she be prosecuted. These are not coincidences. They’re part of a growing pattern of political retaliation.

Career prosecutors reportedly objected to the Letitia James case, warning that it crossed lines meant to keep justice independent. But their objections were ignored. The message is unmistakable: those who challenge Trump risk becoming targets of the Justice Department itself.

This is an attack on the rule of law and a dangerous step toward authoritarianism. When the president can use prosecutors to silence critics, democracy itself is on trial.

Congress must act now. The House and Senate Judiciary Committees should open immediate hearings into political interference at the DOJ, subpoena all communications between the White House and prosecutors, and pass laws protecting the department’s independence. Strengthening whistleblower protections and giving the DOJ Inspector General full authority to investigate interference are essential steps to restore public trust.

Public outrage can still make a difference. When people speak out, lawmakers move, hearings happen, and accountability follows.

Add your name to demand that Congress stop Trump’s weaponization of the Justice Department and defend the rule of law before it’s too late.
