President Trump’s attempted coup weaponized the vague and archaic Electoral Count Act of 1887. In the aftermath, Republicans and Democrats alike want to update and clarify the role of this vague law in order to safeguard future elections from power grabs. Reforming this law has bipartisan support – but time is running out before a new Congress is seated. We can't afford to wait. The Electoral Count Act must be reformed in order to ensure that: 1. The vice president cannot alter electoral counts 2. Objections from members of Congress have a higher threshold of support 3. The rules for appointing electors are written to prevent tampering with presidential election results Tell Congress to reform the Electoral Count Act and protect future elections now.
