Congress Must Protect Kids From ICE Abuse

Children should never be caught in the machinery of enforcement systems that put their health, safety, and well-being at risk. But as The Marshall Project reports, ICE has detained more than 6,200 children in recent months — with over 1,600 held longer than the 20-day legal limit set by the courts.

These numbers are not just statistics — they represent children experiencing fear, disruption, and potential long-term trauma. Experts and advocates have warned that detention can have lasting psychological and physical effects, especially when children are held for extended periods or separated from stable support systems.

The United States has legal and moral obligations to protect children, regardless of immigration status. When those protections are ignored or weakened, it is Congress’s responsibility to act.

Lawmakers must launch a full investigation into ICE’s treatment of children, enforce existing legal limits on detention, and ensure that policies prioritize the safety and well-being of minors.

Add your name to demand Congress hold ICE accountable and protect children from harm.

A just society is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable. By demanding accountability and oversight, we can help ensure that no child is subjected to unnecessary harm — and that our laws reflect our values of compassion, dignity, and fairness.
