Congress Must Investigate Defense Contracts

The American people deserve confidence that national security decisions are made in the public interest—not influenced by the financial interests of politically connected families.

As The New Republic reports, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are connected to business ventures pursuing lucrative opportunities involving the Department of Defense. These reports raise important questions about potential conflicts of interest and whether appropriate ethics safeguards are being followed.

Even the appearance that those with close ties to the president could benefit from military contracts or defense-related business deals can undermine public trust. Defense spending involves hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars, and every contract should be awarded through a process that is transparent, fair, and free from improper influence.

Congress has a constitutional responsibility to provide oversight of the executive branch. Lawmakers should thoroughly investigate these reported business dealings, determine whether any ethics rules or procurement safeguards have been compromised, and ensure that defense policy is never shaped by private financial interests.

Add your name to demand that Congress investigate these reported defense business dealings and protect the integrity of government contracting.

Americans should never have to wonder whether military decisions are being influenced by personal profit. Strong oversight, transparency, and accountability are essential to maintaining public trust in both our government and our national security.
