Congress Must Act: Pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act

An unprecedented attack on workers’ rights is unfolding — and Congress has only days left to fix it after a sweeping executive order in March 2025 that stripped collective bargaining rights from roughly one million federal workers. A bipartisan coalition in the House secured 218 signatures to force a vote on the Protect America’s Workforce Act. 

We’re calling on Speaker Mike Johnson, every member of the House, and the entire U.S. Senate to vote yes. Public pressure is the reason this bill is finally headed to the floor, and it’s the only thing that will ensure it crosses the finish line. When constituents demand action, lawmakers know they’ll be held accountable — especially on fundamental issues like fairness, safety, and worker freedom.

Federal workers keep the country running: caring for veterans, defending our national security, processing Social Security checks, and responding to disasters. Stripping their union rights has already canceled contracts across major agencies, weakened workplace protections, and put vital public services at risk.

Polling consistently shows strong majority support for unions, and news outlets from Common Dreams to Politico have reported how bipartisan lawmakers — from Reps. Jared Golden, Mike Lawler, and Nick LaLota — are pushing to restore these rights despite political friction. They know the rollback wasn’t just unjust; it was destabilizing and dangerous.
