ICE agents in Chicago recently detained a U.S. citizen TV producer — even after she showed proof of citizenship. In Portland, another citizen, Frank Miranda, was held for hours in an ICE facility. These aren’t isolated mistakes — they’re part of a disturbing pattern of Americans being wrongfully arrested by immigration agents. We’re calling on Congress — specifically the House Judiciary Committee, the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer — to launch a full public investigation into ICE’s detention of U.S. citizens. Public outrage can force accountability. When enough people speak up, Congress will have to subpoena ICE records, hold hearings, and tie future funding to strict oversight. Lawmakers must demand complete transparency, identity verification standards, and immediate release procedures upon confirmation of citizenship. ProPublica and other outlets have exposed that ICE refuses to answer congressional questions or release data on how many Americans it’s detained. Without oversight, more citizens will continue to be caught up in raids, jailed, and stripped of their rights. This must stop now. Every day without action puts more innocent people at risk. Sign this petition and demand Congress act immediately to hold ICE accountable — before it’s too late.
