Condemn Ron DeSantis’ Attacks on Muslim Civil Rights Group

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just threatened civil rights nationwide. 

DeSantis officially declared the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) a “terrorist organization” — without evidence and in direct contradiction to the federal government. He ordered Florida’s government bodies to stop any engagement, communication, or cooperation with CAIR, and to treat the group as if it were legally banned — despite lacking federal authority.

This attack is about silencing Muslims and criminalizing a respected civil rights group that defends their freedoms. If we don’t speak out, this will become a blueprint for other states and even the federal government.

Tell Governor Ron DeSantis: “Reverse your dangerous, baseless designation of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and stop weaponizing state power against Muslim Americans and minorities.”

If DeSantis’ order stands, other MAGA governors will see they can target any civil rights organization they dislike — Muslim, Black, LGBTQ+, immigrant — with the stroke of a pen.
