Colorado’s Solar Farm Leads — Tell Your State to Act Now

The climate crisis is here, and we don’t have time for excuses or half measures. While many politicians stall and fossil fuel companies double down on pollution, one community in Colorado is proving there’s a better way forward.

The brand-new Garnet Mesa Solar Agrivoltaic Farm near Delta, Colorado, developed by Alluvial Power, is a bold model for what clean energy should look like everywhere. This 80 MW solar farm will generate more than 200,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually—powering 18,000 homes—while continuing to support agriculture and grazing on the same land. Instead of forcing a choice between energy and farming, Alluvial Power and the community members who worked together to develop this project have shown that both can thrive side by side. This is clean energy that works for people, ecosystems, and local communities.

Alluvial Power demonstrated vision and leadership in seeing this project into action. Garnet Mesa proves that solar development doesn’t have to push aside local economies, harm ecosystems, or disrupt rural lands. Instead, it can strengthen communities, protect the local environment and species who live there–and fight climate change at the same time.

Now, it’s time for other states and energy companies to follow their lead.

Power companies, utilities, and state leaders nationwide must follow this lead:

1: Adopt agrivoltaic and multi-use clean energy models that combine solar and wind power with farming, grazing, and wildlife-friendly practices.

2: Replicate Garnet Mesa’s approach by working with local communities to design multiple use projects that create jobs, protect land and wildlife, and deliver affordable clean energy.

3: Accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels by prioritizing responsible renewable energy development with the urgency the climate crisis demands.

Alluvial Power has shown us what’s possible. Every power company—and every state—must now rise to the challenge.

Sign this petition to thank Alluvial Power for leading the way, and support similar action by utilities and state leaders across the country.
