Close the Pay Gap in Women’s Sports

Professional athletes have given their lives to their sport. They train, they practice, they do everything right to get to where they want to be.

College basketball superstar Caitlin Clark was the first pick in the 2024 Women’s National Basketball Association draft. However, she’ll be paid less than the average acupuncturist, elevator repairer, and police detective in the US. Meanwhile, the first pick in the 2024 NBA draft is expected to make $10 million in his first year.

This glaring injustice highlights the need to to close the pay gap in women’s sports. Add your name to our petition now if you agree.

A recent CNN analysis found that women playing in the 2023 World Cup earned 25 cents to the dollar of men. In hockey, about half of Team USA holds second and third jobs to pay the bills.

“Everyone thinks women should be thrilled when we get crumbs. I want women to be able to have the cake, the icing, and the cherry on top too,” said Billie Jean King at the 2016 Miami Open.
