Censure Bigots and Remove Them from Power

Congressional Republicans are escalating a dangerous campaign of anti-Muslim hate that has no place in our democracy. Last week, Representative Andy Ogles posted on social media that Muslims don’t belong in America, while Florida Congressman Randy Fine suggested that Muslims should be “destroyed” during a congressional hearing. These aren't isolated incidents — they reflect a pattern of bigotry that threatens the safety and dignity of millions of American Muslims.

House Speaker Mike Johnson's refusal to condemn this hate makes him complicit. When asked about Ogles' anti-Muslim outburst, Johnson did what he always does: nothing. This silence enables racism and undermines the very values Congress is supposed to represent.

Public pressure has worked before — when Fine previously made inappropriate remarks, Democrats demanded his resignation and censure. We need that same urgency now. These Republicans don't deserve committee seats where they could influence legislation targeting Muslim communities. They deserve censure and removal from their positions of power.
