We applaud the Ohio 10th District Court of Appeals for blocking the state’s cruel and unconstitutional ban on gender-affirming care for minors. This ruling is a major victory for trans youth, their families, and medical professionals who have fought tirelessly to defend their right to access necessary health care. By striking down this harmful law, the court has affirmed that transgender youth deserve the same dignity, autonomy, and access to medical care as any other person. The judges rightfully recognized that banning gender-affirming treatments while allowing the same medications for other conditions is blatant discrimination—and that parents, not politicians, should make medical decisions for their children. This ruling also restores the rights of trans women and girls to participate in female sports, rejecting an unjust attack on trans athletes. We thank the ACLU, ACLU of Ohio, Goodwin Law, and all the advocates who fought for this victory. While Ohio’s attorney general has vowed to appeal, this ruling sets an important legal precedent that strengthens trans rights across the country. Let’s celebrate this historic win and continue fighting for full equality, dignity, and access to care for all transgender people!
