We applaud the courageous rulings by two federal judges who have just delivered a critical victory for equity and education in America. By blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to strip federal funding from public schools that support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), these judges have protected the rights of students, educators, and communities nationwide. Judges Stephanie A. Gallagher of Maryland and Landya McCafferty of New Hampshire rightly ruled that the Department of Education’s efforts to punish DEI programming were both procedurally flawed and constitutionally questionable. These rulings affirm that public schools should not be forced to abandon their commitment to inclusivity and academic freedom in order to receive federal support. This isn’t just a legal win — it’s a powerful stand for values that define who we are: fairness, opportunity, and the freedom to learn in an environment that reflects and respects all students. We thank the American Federation of Teachers, the American Sociological Association, and all others who stood up and fought back against this attempt to censor and control our schools. Add your name to celebrate this landmark decision and stand with educators and students who refuse to be silenced. Let’s keep fighting for schools that welcome and empower every child.
