Celebrate Missourians Fighting Back Against Gerrymandering

In a huge grassroots victory for democracy, fairness, and the power of everyday people, organizers in Missouri have submitted more than 300,000 signatures — nearly triple the number required — to block the state’s gerrymandered congressional map and force a statewide referendum next year.

The effort, led by People Not Politicians, pushes back against a Republican-drawn map designed to eliminate the Kansas City district represented by Democrat Emanuel Cleaver and replace it with a GOP seat — part of Donald Trump’s national push to engineer more Republican-friendly districts before the midterms.

But Missourians stood up. Volunteers across the state mobilized at record speed, collecting signatures in a tight legal window to protect fair representation. Their message is clear: voters, not politicians, should choose their leaders.
