Celebrate Judge Ruling Protecting Humanitarian Parole

We applaud U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani for standing up for the rights and dignity of immigrants under the CHNV humanitarian parole program. Her decision to block the Trump administration from ending this life-saving policy brings relief and hope to hundreds of thousands of individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who came to the United States legally with sponsorship, background checks, and a desire to build better lives.

Judge Talwani rightly challenged the administration’s justification for ending the program, calling it “based on an incorrect reading of the law” and recognizing the real human cost of forcing people to choose between deportation and risking everything they’ve built. Her ruling affirms that the government cannot unilaterally revoke protections without a sound, lawful rationale.

This moment is a victory not only for immigrants in the CHNV program but for every American who believes in fairness, due process, and compassion. We thank Judge Talwani for her courage and commitment to justice.

Let this decision be a reminder: we must protect pathways to legal status, not destroy them. We must fight for humane immigration policies that reflect our values — and we are grateful to those who defend them in the courts.
