Celebrate Democrats Winning Back the House

Democrats have won control of the U.S. House of Representatives in a major shift of power following the 2026 midterm elections! The result marks a significant change in Washington, giving Democrats control of the House for the first time during President Donald Trump's second term and creating new opportunities for congressional oversight and legislative action.

The victory follows a campaign focused on rising living costs, healthcare, immigration enforcement, and the Trump administration's use of executive power. Democratic candidates challenged Republican policies on Medicaid, tariffs, and the war with Iran, while emphasizing the importance of congressional accountability. Democrats also navigated an intense redistricting battle, including efforts led by California Governor Gavin Newsom and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi to counter Republican-drawn congressional maps.

This election represents a major milestone for Democrats and the voters who supported their candidates. The new House majority will provide an important avenue for oversight, public debate, and legislative proposals. The projected result also marks a historic moment for congressional leadership, with Jeffries positioned to become the first Black American to hold the speakership.
