Celebrate Court Victory Against AZ's Voter Suppression Laws!

We celebrate the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' decision to strike down Arizona’s restrictive proof-of-citizenship voting laws, which were designed to suppress the voices of Latino, Native American, student, and naturalized citizen voters. This ruling is a critical victory for democracy, ensuring that every eligible voter in Arizona can exercise their fundamental right to vote without unnecessary and discriminatory barriers.

These laws, passed amid baseless claims of mass illegal voting, directly violated the National Voter Registration Act, the Civil Rights Act, and the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution. The court’s decision affirms that no state can impose arbitrary and discriminatory obstacles to disenfranchise voters.
