Celebrate $37 Million Lifeline for Local Public Media

At a time when PBS and NPR face devastating federal funding cuts, a coalition of seven major philanthropic organizations has stepped up with a powerful commitment: $37 million to keep local public media strong and thriving.

The Knight Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, Schmidt Family Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Pivotal, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation are uniting to sustain local TV and radio stations — the trusted community anchors that millions of Americans rely on for local news, educational programming, cultural storytelling, and civic connection.

This funding will help stations across the country — particularly those in rural, small, and Native communities — weather unprecedented financial challenges after the Trump administration repealed $1 billion in federal support. Without this lifeline, countless stations would be forced to scale back or shut down, cutting off communities from the information they depend on.

Add your name to celebrate this $37 million lifeline for public media and stand with the foundations, journalists, and stations keeping trusted, local news alive.
