Biden, Act Now: Cover All Borrowers in Debt Relief Plan

President Biden, we demand that you fulfill your promise of debt cancellation for those experiencing hardship and younger borrowers. Hardship protections were promised to borrowers in the coming months following your Plan B announcement and need to be implemented immediately. Time is running out to keep your promise of debt cancellation for all borrowers. Anything short of that is a half-measure.

We know from experience that policies that are not enacted swiftly tend to be swept aside and do not return to the forefront of critical action. Immediate action is needed to ensure that implementation of Plan B for all borrowers begins this fall.

Plan B for student debt cancellation was proposed earlier this year to provide widespread debt cancellation for millions of borrowers - but borrowers experiencing financial hardship, servicing errors and younger borrowers now are threatened to be excluded from this essential relief. This exclusion amounts to millions of Americans who continue to struggle under the weight of student debt.
