Applaud Those Fighting Trump’s $1.8 Billion Slush Fund

A growing coalition of public servants, advocacy groups, and community leaders is standing up against what critics call an unconstitutional political slush fund — and they deserve applause.

Former prosecutors, democracy advocates, reproductive rights organizations, and local leaders have filed suit to block the Trump administration’s nearly $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund,” warning it could funnel taxpayer money to political allies and January 6 extremists.

The lawsuit argues the fund bypasses Congress’s authority over federal spending, lacks transparency and oversight, and opens the door to rewarding individuals tied to attacks on democratic institutions and public safety.

This fight is about protecting the Constitution, defending accountability, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are never used to reward political violence or corruption.

No administration should be allowed to create secretive funds without proper oversight or use public money to benefit political allies and extremists.
