Applaud the Victory for Black Voters in Alabama

We applaud the historic victory that has given Black voters in Alabama a stronger voice in Congress — a critical step forward for democracy and fair representation. Thanks to the courage of community members like Shalela Dowdy and the legal victory in Allen v. Milligan, a new congressional map was drawn to reflect the realities of Alabama’s diverse population. The result: the election of Rep. Shomari Figures, giving Black Alabamians a second seat in the U.S. House for the first time in history.

This win is about more than maps. It’s about justice, access, and ensuring communities that have long been marginalized finally have a seat at the table. From Mobile to Montgomery, voters are energized, engaged, and ready to defend their hard-won rights — even as those rights come under renewed attack.

We stand with every Alabamian who fought for this district. We thank the plaintiffs, attorneys, organizers, and residents who refused to be silenced. And we commit to continuing the fight for voting rights across the country — because representation matters, and democracy belongs to us all.

Add your name to stand with Alabama voters and celebrate this victory for fairness, justice, and equal voice in our democracy.
