Applaud the Ruling Protecting the Department of Education!

A huge win for students, educators, and our democracy! U.S. District Judge Myong Joun has officially blocked the Trump administration’s unlawful attempt to dismantle the Department of Education — and we’re celebrating this critical victory.

In a decisive ruling, Judge Joun called out the Trump administration’s mass firings and executive order as a clear attempt to eliminate the department without congressional approval — a move he declared “plainly not true” and “a gross overreach of power.” Thanks to his order, fired staff will be reinstated and the department can continue its essential work supporting students, families, and schools across the country.

This is a resounding reminder: one person cannot tear down the right to equal education. The Department of Education exists to protect civil rights, uphold funding for our public schools, and ensure every student has a fair shot — and today, that mission lives on.
