Applaud the Judge Holding Homeland Security Accountable

A federal judge has held the Department of Homeland Security in contempt after the agency failed to comply with a court order requiring it to preserve and produce records related to immigration enforcement operations in the Los Angeles area.

The court found that DHS had not acted with the urgency required to turn over government-issued cell phone records that could be relevant to allegations of unconstitutional immigration enforcement practices. As a result, the judge imposed daily fines until the agency complies with the order.

Our justice system depends on government agencies following lawful court orders promptly and in good faith.
