Applaud the Judge for Protecting Michigan Voters’ Privacy

A federal judge just delivered an important win for voter privacy, election integrity, and the rule of law!

U.S. District Judge Hala Jarbou rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to force Michigan to hand over sensitive voter data, including birth dates, addresses, and partial Social Security numbers for more than 8 million voters. Her ruling made clear that federal law does not give the Justice Department the authority to demand this deeply personal information.

Judge Jarbou went even further, warning that interpreting voting laws to require disclosure of private registration data could place an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote. That’s a crucial point: when voters fear their personal information could be exposed or misused, participation in democracy suffers.

This decision follows similar rulings in Oregon and California and sends a powerful message nationwide: voter rolls cannot be weaponized as a political tool, and states have a responsibility to protect their residents’ privacy while administering free and fair elections.

Add your name to applaud Judge Hala Jarbou for defending voter privacy, rejecting federal overreach, and protecting the fundamental right to vote without fear or intimidation.
