Applaud the Court for Protecting Disaster Preparedness Funds

A federal judge just delivered a major win for public safety — blocking the Trump administration from raiding $4 billion Congress set aside to help communities prepare for natural disasters.

Judge Richard G. Stearns granted an injunction after 20 states sued to stop FEMA from ending its Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program and redirecting the money elsewhere. This vital program funds projects that strengthen electrical grids, build flood protection, relocate vulnerable water treatment plants, and more — often in rural and high-risk communities.

This decision keeps lifesaving projects from being cancelled or downsized, and it upholds the principle that prevention saves lives, protects property, and reduces recovery costs.

Add your name to applaud the states that fought for this victory, and to stand up for proactive, commonsense disaster preparedness that puts people’s safety first!
