Applaud the Court for Defending Planned Parenthood

A federal judge just delivered a crucial victory for reproductive health care and millions of patients nationwide.

Judge Indira Talwani ruled that Planned Parenthood clinics must continue to receive Medicaid reimbursements, rejecting the Trump administration’s attempt to defund the organization through a provision in his tax bill. The court made it clear: patients should not lose access to care simply because of politics.

Planned Parenthood provides vital services — from birth control and STI testing to cancer screenings — to millions of low-income Americans. Nearly half of its patients rely on Medicaid. Without this ruling, nearly 200 clinics could have closed, leaving over 1 million people without access to critical health care.
