Applaud the Appeals Court for Protecting Mail Voting

Every eligible voter deserves reliable access to the ballot box—and this court decision is another important victory for voting rights.

A federal appeals court has refused to revive key parts of President Trump's executive order targeting mail voting, allowing a lower court's ruling to remain in effect while the legal challenge continues. As a result, protections for mail voting remain in place across 23 states and the District of Columbia.

The court recognized that the executive order could impose significant costs on states and interfere with their constitutional authority to administer elections. It also raised concerns about unprecedented federal involvement in state election systems and the potential impact on election officials carrying out their duties.
