In a courageous act of resistance, over 50 Texas Democrats left the state to block a Trump-backed redistricting vote that threatens to silence millions of Black and Latino voters. By breaking quorum, they’ve temporarily halted a corrupt political scheme that would rig the map to give Republicans up to five extra congressional seats — all at the urging of Donald Trump.

These lawmakers are risking fines, backlash, and political pressure to defend the fundamental right to fair representation. “We’re not walking out on our responsibilities,” said Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu. “We’re walking out on a rigged system.”
