We applaud the unwavering support of the 24 states, cities, and organizations like the ACLU that have taken a bold stand to defend birthright citizenship against President Donald Trump’s unconstitutional executive order.

For over 150 years, the 14th Amendment has guaranteed citizenship to all children born on U.S. soil, regardless of their parents' status. This principle is a cornerstone of American democracy, ensuring equality and inclusion for generations. The executive order attempting to end this fundamental right threatens to create stateless children, deny basic human rights, and destabilize countless communities across our nation.

We commend the coalition of attorneys general, city leaders, and advocates who are challenging this order in court, reinforcing the importance of constitutional protections and ensuring that every child born in the United States has the opportunity to thrive as a full member of society.
