Applaud Senate Democrats for Demanding Real Reform at DHS

Democrats in the Senate are taking a stand — and refusing to rubber-stamp more of the same.

With a funding deadline looming, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer made it clear: Democrats will block another short-term funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security unless Republicans agree to meaningful reforms that rein in ICE and stop ongoing abuses. Instead of extending the status quo, Democrats are demanding accountability, transparency, and real guardrails.

Senate Democrats didn’t just say “no” — they came to the table with a detailed 10-point plan and actual legislative language to overhaul ICE and Customs and Border Protection. But according to multiple senators, the White House responded with vague talking points and a one-page outline, refusing to engage seriously with proposals aimed at protecting civil rights and preventing violence.

This is what responsible leadership looks like. Democrats are using their leverage to push for reforms that protect communities, uphold the rule of law, and ensure immigration enforcement operates within constitutional boundaries. They’re refusing to fund harmful policies without meaningful changes.

Add your name to applaud Senate Democrats for standing firm, demanding real DHS reform, and fighting to ensure that federal agencies answer to the law — and to the people.
