Applaud Senate Democrats Fighting Trump’s Slush Fund

Senate Democrats are moving to shut down Donald Trump’s controversial “anti-weaponization” fund once and for all — and they deserve applause.

Senators Mark Kelly, Adam Schiff, and Elissa Slotkin introduced the Drain the Slush Fund Act to block taxpayer money from being used for payouts to Trump, his associates, convicted criminals, or anyone involved in the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

The bill comes after courts froze the fund and the Justice Department backed away from the nearly $1.8 billion scheme — a major sign that public pressure, legal action, and congressional oversight are working.

This fight is about protecting taxpayers, stopping corruption, and making sure no president can use public money to reward political allies or extremists.

At a time when families need relief from rising costs, every dollar of taxpayer money should serve the public — not bankroll political payoffs.
