Applaud President Obama for Calling Out JD Vance's Hypocrisy

Leaders should practice the values they preach—and President Barack Obama deserves applause for calling out hypocrisy when he sees it.

Speaking about America's multiracial democracy, President Obama criticized Vice President JD Vance's rhetoric on immigration, noting the contradiction between Vance's speeches about who belongs in America and the fact that his own wife, Usha Vance, is the daughter of immigrants.

America has always been a nation shaped by immigrants and their families. Millions of Americans are proud children and grandchildren of people who came here seeking freedom and opportunity, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect—not used as political targets.

Words from our nation's leaders matter. Rhetoric that questions whether certain Americans truly belong can deepen divisions and undermine the values of equality and opportunity that have defined our country's progress.

President Obama reminded us that our diversity is a source of strength, not weakness, and that our democracy is strongest when we reject fear, embrace inclusion, and recognize the contributions of every American—regardless of where their parents were born.

Add your name to applaud President Obama for calling out JD Vance's hypocrisy, defending immigrant families, and standing up for the inclusive values that make America stronger.
