Applaud Oregon’s Legal Team for Defending Democracy

Oregon just scored another important win for democracy, the Constitution, and community safety.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has placed a temporary hold on a ruling that would have allowed Donald Trump to deploy National Guard troops into Portland — ensuring that no troops can be sent into the city while judges take a closer look at the serious constitutional issues at stake.

This decision gives the courts time to fully review Trump’s unprecedented attempt to federalize Oregon’s National Guard against the will of the state’s elected leaders. It also protects Portland residents from unnecessary militarization while the legal process unfolds.

Attorney General Dan Rayfield praised the decision, calling it “an important step in protecting Oregonians’ rights and keeping our communities safe.” Once again, Oregon’s leaders and the courts are proving that the rule of law — not political strong-arming — must prevail.

Add your name to applaud Oregon’s legal team, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and everyone standing up for constitutional rights, local control, and the right of communities to stay safe and self-governed.
