Applaud No Kings' Oct. 17 Day of Action

The No Kings coalition just announced its next nationwide mobilization: a Day of Action on October 17 focused entirely on early voting. As of early September, more than 140 cities across 38 states already had events planned, with more expected to join in the coming weeks.

Unlike past No Kings protests, this one is built around getting people to the polls rather than marching in the streets. Communities are organizing block parties, rallies, canvasses, and walks to the polls, each tailored to fit local culture and needs.

The coalition includes the American Federation of Teachers, MoveOn, State Voices, Voto Latino, and Black Voters Matter Fund, among others. "America belongs to the people—not to kings, billionaires, or politicians," said Black Voters Matter Fund co-founders Cliff Albright and LaTosha Brown.

This builds on last year's mobilizations, when millions turned out for some of the largest nonviolent demonstrations in U.S. history. Organizers say the goal now is turning that same energy into ballots cast early, before Election Day pressure sets in.
