Applaud New Mexico for Demanding Accountability

New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice after accusing the agency of refusing to provide records needed for the state's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's activities at his New Mexico ranch.

According to the lawsuit, New Mexico officials made repeated, good-faith efforts to obtain unredacted investigative records but instead received heavily redacted documents and materials that did little to advance the investigation. The state is now asking a federal court to require the Department of Justice to comply with transparency laws and provide the records necessary to continue its work.

Survivors deserve answers, communities deserve accountability, and law enforcement agencies should cooperate when investigating serious allegations of abuse. Transparency is essential to ensuring that investigations are thorough, credible, and worthy of the public's trust.
