Applaud Minnesota’s Lawsuit Defending Trans Rights

We applaud Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison for standing strong against the Trump administration’s discriminatory executive orders targeting transgender students.

By filing a lawsuit to challenge the federal government’s threats to withhold funding unless the state bans transgender athletes from girls' and women’s sports, Minnesota has taken a bold and necessary step to defend the rights and dignity of all students. These executive orders are an attack on equality, contrary to Title IX protections and Minnesota’s own Human Rights Act.

Ellison’s refusal to comply with unconstitutional bullying sets a powerful example for the rest of the country. No child should be denied the right to participate fully in school life because of their gender identity.

We urge other states and leaders to follow Minnesota’s lead and defend the rights of transgender youth. Stand up to discrimination. Stand with Minnesota. Stand with trans students.
