Applaud Minnesota for Defending Communities and Rights

Minnesota and the Twin Cities are standing up for their residents, their rights, and the Constitution. State and local leaders have filed a powerful lawsuit against the Trump administration’s unprecedented immigration crackdown, calling it what it is: an unlawful federal overreach that has terrorized communities, violated constitutional limits, and put lives at risk.

Led by Attorney General Keith Ellison and supported by local leaders including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Minnesota is refusing to stay silent as federal agents flood neighborhoods, carry out aggressive operations, and act without accountability. The lawsuit argues that these actions violate the Tenth 
Amendment, undermine local authority, and amount to political retaliation against Democratic-led states and sanctuary cities.

This legal action comes amid deepening concerns over safety and justice, following the killing of Renee Good, a mother of three, during an ICE operation. Rather than accept chaos and intimidation, Minnesota is demanding the rule of law, transparency, and respect for human life.

This is courageous leadership in action. By going to court, Minnesota and the Twin Cities are defending constitutional principles, protecting their residents, and sending a clear message: communities will not be bullied or terrorized by unchecked federal power.
