Applaud Judge Rochon for Halting Taxpayer-Funded Trump Ads

Taxpayer dollars should be used to serve the American people, not promote a president's political agenda—and a federal judge is taking action to uphold that principle.

U.S. District Judge Jennifer Rochon has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from using public funds to produce and air advertisements featuring President Trump ahead of the November midterms. Her order requires the Department of Homeland Security to stop funding the ads and cancel previously reserved television airtime.

The ruling follows a lawsuit brought by Common Cause, two labor unions, and an Alabama state senate candidate, who argue that the administration improperly diverted $20 million in federal funds toward political advertising. Judge Rochon found that the plaintiffs were likely to succeed in their challenge, including claims that the spending exceeded what Congress authorized and violated restrictions on government propaganda.

Even after the administration announced it would stop purchasing the ads, Judge Rochon determined that court intervention was necessary. Her order requires the administration to demonstrate compliance and prevents further spending on the challenged advertisements while the case proceeds.

Add your name to applaud Judge Rochon for halting taxpayer-funded pro-Trump ads, defending accountability in government spending, and standing up for the rule of law!
