Applaud Judge Blocking Trump's White House Media Ban

A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s ban on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, ordering officials to restore the news organizations’ press credentials while their lawsuit proceeds.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a 14-day temporary restraining order after the three outlets challenged the revocation of their White House hard passes. Kelly found that they were likely to succeed in showing that their credentials had been revoked without constitutionally adequate due process. 

The outlets had their credentials revoked after President Donald Trump announced that they would no longer be permitted at the White House, accusing them of publishing false and negative coverage. The news organizations sued, arguing that the government had retaliated against them because of their reporting and violated their First and Fifth Amendment rights.
