Applaud Immigrants Standing Up for the Rule of Law

Nearly 200 immigrants are courageously standing up for fairness, due process, and the integrity of our immigration system by suing the federal government after the Trump administration abruptly froze their legally filed immigration cases. These individuals followed every rule — passing background checks, submitting required documents, and waiting patiently — only to have their paths to citizenship, green cards, or asylum suddenly halted without warning or legal justification.

The lawsuit challenges U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for pausing case processing in the wake of an expanded travel ban, a move that targets people from dozens of countries and leaves families in limbo. By taking this case to court, these immigrants are defending a basic principle: the government must follow the law it enforces and cannot arbitrarily change the rules after people have already complied.
