Applaud Environmental Leaders for Defending Our Climate

More than a dozen public health and environmental justice organizations are standing up for science, the law, and our planet — and they deserve our applause.

These groups have filed a lawsuit challenging the Trump EPA’s repeal of the landmark “endangerment finding,” the scientific determination that climate pollution threatens public health and welfare. For more than 15 years, this finding has formed the legal backbone of federal efforts to limit dangerous emissions from cars, power plants, and major industrial polluters.

By attempting to erase it, the administration is not just rolling back a rule — it’s attacking decades of scientific consensus and undermining the EPA’s core mission to protect the air we breathe and the communities most harmed by pollution.

Health experts, climate scientists, and environmental justice advocates are refusing to let that happen. Organizations like the American Lung Association, the Sierra Club, the Environmental Defense Fund, and many others are taking this fight to court to defend clean air, protect vulnerable communities, and uphold the Clean Air Act. The Supreme Court has already affirmed the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases — and these advocates are making sure that authority isn’t tossed aside for political convenience.
