Applaud Democrats' Town Halls in GOP Districts

We commend Democratic leaders and organizers for taking bold, transparent action by hosting public town halls in Republican-held districts—especially those where GOP leaders have discouraged such open forums.

At a time when the Trump administration and its Republican allies are enacting deep cuts to essential services, attempting to shield themselves from public accountability, Democrats are stepping up and showing up. These “People’s Town Halls” bring much-needed attention to the real-world impacts of Trump’s agenda: higher costs, job cuts, threats to Medicaid, and attacks on public institutions.

By organizing events in districts like that of NRCC Chair Richard Hudson—who recently urged his members to avoid in-person town halls—Democrats are proving that public service means listening to the people, not hiding from them. Their efforts to meet voters face-to-face reflect a commitment to transparency, democracy, and fighting for working families across the country.

We especially applaud the participation of Senators Cory Booker and Chris Murphy, and Representatives Greg Stanton, Greg Casar, and Maxwell Frost, as well as the leadership of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene for standing strong in the face of adversity and expanding access to civic engagement.

This is what real leadership looks like. Thank you for amplifying the voices of constituents, defending essential services, and keeping democracy alive where it’s needed most.
