Applaud Democrats for Standing Up to Trump’s Agenda

We thank House Democrats for boldly rejecting the advice to “play dead” and instead choosing to meet President Trump’s sweeping domestic agenda with courage, clarity, and conviction.

Rather than retreat, Democratic leaders have made clear that they intend to fight — every day and on every front — to protect Social Security, veterans’ benefits, public education, health care, and basic services for working families.

They are standing up for the millions of Americans who would be harmed by Trump’s cruel proposed cuts to Medicaid, federal safety net programs, and public services. By organizing town halls, staging national days of action, and taking the fight directly into Republican districts, Democrats are showing the nation what real leadership looks like.

This is what it means to fight for democracy, to protect what people have paid into, and to say unequivocally: no one gets left behind. At a time when some urged caution or silence, Democrats chose to show up, speak out, and stand firm.
