Applaud Chicago’s Win for Accountability and Justice

A federal judge has ordered federal immigration agents in Chicago to wear visible identification at all times — ending the era of masked, anonymous enforcement and secret arrests.

The ruling, issued by Judge Sara Ellis, requires agents from ICE, DHS, and Border Patrol to display badges or unique identifiers and bans the use of riot-control weapons like tear gas and pepper bullets against peaceful protesters and journalists. It’s a landmark step toward accountability and protection for immigrant families, reporters, and community members across the region.

This ruling is about more than identification. It’s about dignity, democracy, and the right to live without fear of unmarked agents or unlawful force. Chicago has once again proven that when communities stand together, justice prevails.

Add your name to applaud this victory for transparency, accountability, and the right to protest — and stand with Chicago in defending civil rights and press freedom.
