Native American and tribal communities experience higher rates of food insecurity than any other racial group as a result of hundreds of years of U.S. government policies aimed at controlling, eliminating and assimilating Native people. Tell Congress: Pass a strong farm bill that respects Native sovereignty by allowing tribal governments the flexibility to administer federal nutrition programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and SNAP as decided by the tribe, and allow people receiving SNAP benefits to also receive Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) benefits.
