Tell Gov. DeSantis: Stop Lying About Masks

At an indoor event at the University of South Florida on Wednesday, likely future presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told a group of college students wearing masks that they should remove them because they were "not doing anything."

“You do not have to wear those masks,” DeSantis said. “I mean, please take them off. Honestly, it’s not doing anything, and we’ve got to stop with this COVID theater.”

That’s a lie. According to a Centers for Disease Control study last month, “consistently wearing a comfortable, well-fitting face mask or respirator in indoor public settings protects against acquisition of SARS-CoV-2 infection.”

Join us in urging Ron DeSantis to stop lying about COVID-19 and the effectiveness of mask wearing in high-risk situations.
