Donald Trump is calling for more executions — and red-state governors are racing to obey.

Trump has praised states that don’t hesitate to kill. Now Florida’s Ron DeSantis, Alabama’s Kay Ivey, and Texas’s Greg Abbott are turning death row into a political scoreboard — proving their loyalty to Trump by killing faster and more often.

Governors are using death as a loyalty test to win Trump’s approval. Every rushed execution increases the risk of killing an innocent person. Since 1973, nearly 200 people sentenced to death have been exonerated, and more innocent lives could soon be lost if we don’t stop the rush now.

In Alabama, Ivey has doubled down after a series of botched killings — even reviving nitrogen gas despite international condemnation. And in Texas, Abbott continues to greenlight one execution after another, making it the longest-running death chamber in America.
