Tell the Supreme Court: Hands Off Medication Abortion

Medication abortion is safe and effective, whether a patient receives it from their doctor or a telehealth appointment. It’s the most common form of abortion in the United States — yet it is under attack.

Last April, a Trump-appointed Texas judge suspended the US Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone. While it is still available while the ruling is under review, the Supreme Court is expected to rule on the case soon.

“I think it’s really wonderful that we’re able to meet patients where they’re at. So whatever their preferred method of communication is, whether it’s texting, whether it’s telephone, whether it’s video, so we are able to meet their needs with accessibility,” Dr. Pratima Gupta, an abortion provider in San Diego said. “And it provides the necessary privacy to control their lives.”

We must keep the pressure on to keep medication abortion a legal and safe option. The ability for patients to receive discreet and necessary healthcare is of the utmost importance.
